In 1998, at age 60, I challenged myself by walking 60 miles in 3 days and raising $1700. Since that time I have raised over $565,000 and walked in 56 long distance walks for breast cancer. My goal for 2006 is to walk all 8 of the Avon Walks for Breast Cancer, 7 of the Breast Cancer 3•Day’s (Susan G. Komen Foundation), and to raise as much money as I can. By participating in these 15 events I will be walking for 37 days; that is approximately 370 hours. While I am walking those 370 hours, 7466 women/men will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That is one person every 3 minutes. While I am walking those 370 hours, 1600 women/men will die of breast cancer. That is one person every 14 minutes. My job of walking and fundraising is not done. Please join me in this fight.
Dec. 5, 2006--I completed 14 walks (8 walks
for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and 6 walks for the Breast
Cancer 3Day). I raised over $111,000 this year with a 9 year
total of $677,000. I have now walked in 70 long distance
walks. My plans for 2007 are being formulated as I consider a
long term goal of 100 walks and $1million.
